- I am a Senior at Drake University. I started this blog in order to have something to show the folks back home, and at Drake. When I originally started this blog, I was headed to Jordan after my junior year of high school. Most of the American kids either speak Spanish or French as their second language. However, certain languages have been deemed security languages. These include Hindu, Farsi, Urdu, Persian, Chinese, and Arabic. In 2007, I was picked to represent our country in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. We spent our time learning Arabic at the university, doing service work, and being cultural ambassadors. The following summer, I had the distinct privilege of going back…but that time leading a team. I have since been back to Egypt multiple times, and was evacuated during the Arab Spring to Oman. Now I am gearing up for another adventure in the Navy as my senior year at Drake winds down.
